  • DOE and EPB Energy Storage Battery Commissioning

The Energy Power Board Utility (EPB), in partnership with the Department of Energy, is holding a press event to commission a new 100kW/500kWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery. This technology offers a long duration discharge time which fits well with EPB’s goals to reduce peak demand and offers a long cycle life.  The battery is being installed on the site of EPB’s Solar Share community solar array in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

  • New York Energy REVolution Summit

The focus for 2017 is squarely on the implementation of both the New York REV and the new Clean Energy Standard. With the recent value of D and the DSIP rulemakings, and roll out of CES procurement plans and rate-making orders expected over the next few months, the New York market is poised to jump forward.

  • Secure & Resilient Microgrid Design Summit

The 2nd Sandia & EPRI Secure & Resilient Microgrid Design Summit will be co-located with APRISE 2017 and the Defense Energy Technology Challenge July 19-20 at the beautiful Hale Koa Hotel on Fort DeRussy Armed Forces Recreation Center, Waikiki, Honolulu, HI. This summit will bring together stakeholders and practitioners from the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, national laboratories, universities, civilian communities, utilities, regulators, and industry to discuss planning, designing, justifying, and implementing energy secure and resilient microgrid designs.

  • 2017 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting

The theme for the 2017 IEEE Power & Energy Society Meeting is “Energize a More Secure, Resilient & Adaptable Grid,” providing a platform to offer new insights, innovative ideas, and answers to some of the most intriguing and important questions facing the power industry today.

  • Grid Edge World Forum 2017

In its second year, this conference focuses on future distributed energy systems, where they discuss latest issues, opportunities, trends and innovations happening at the grid edge.

  • Webinar: Regulatory Incentives and Disincentives for Utility Investments in Grid Modernization

Electric power is America's most capital-intensive industry, with more than $100 billion invested each year in energy infrastructure. Investment needs are likely to grow as electric utilities make power systems more reliable and resilient, deploy advanced digital technologies, and facilitate new services to meet some consumers' expectations for greater choice and control. But do current regulatory approaches provide the appropriate incentives for grid modernization investments? This report presents three perspectives:

  • Control of Complex Systems: An Integrated Perspective on Modern Power Grid Control

PNNL’s Control of Complex Systems workshop series brings together leading researchers in the control community, U.S. Department of Energy stakeholders, professors, students, grid regulators, utility researchers and managers, engineers, and other industry representatives to discuss the technical obstacles and potential solutions to unlock the true potential of next generation power grids.

  • VOLTTRON 2017

VOLTTRON™ is coming to San Francisco for the Fourth Annual Technical Meeting on the Software for Transactive Energy on May 16-17. Join us at Pacific Gas & Electric Company’s Pacific Energy Center to discuss the future of VOLTTRON™, hear about applications from users, and participate in hands-on demonstrations and live tutorials with developers.

  • Interoperability Technical Review Meeting

The U.S. Department of Energy Grid Modernization Laboratory Consortium (GMLC) Interoperability Technical Review Meeting was held, in partnership with SGIP, on May 10-11, 2017 at American Electric Power (AEP) Ohio in Columbus, Ohio.
