  • Grid Modernization Summit

Today’s aging grid does not have many of the capabilities needed to meet the expectations of “Amazon age” customers and manage the operational demands of a generation mix featuring increasing amounts of renewable power and BTM solar PV, storage and EVs. At the same time, the pace of technological advancement is outpacing the traditional regulatory cycle, while flat load growth is limiting a utility’s ability to explore all the technologies emerging to help manage an increasingly flexible two-way grid.

  • GMI Peer Review

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Modernization Initiative (GMI) is holding a peer review on September 4–7, 2018, at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.

  • Enabling Advanced Power Electronics Technologies

Sandia National Laboratories is hosting the “Enabling Advanced Power Electronics Technologies for the Next Generation Electric Utility Grid” workshop at Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town July 17-18. Participants from government agencies, national laboratories, industry, and universities will meet to gain a broader understanding of power electronics R&D needs—from materials to systems—for the next generation electric utility grid. The workshop includes the following sessions:

  • Electricity Affordability Metrics for the U.S.

Through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Modernization Lab Consortium (GMLC), the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has developed electricity affordability metrics at the state and county levels for the United States. This webinar will introduce a simple spreadsheet interface to map these electricity affordability metrics.

Monisha Shah of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will discuss the GMLC and its work to measure the progress of the nation’s grid modernization efforts.

  • 2018 Transactive Energy Systems Conference

Imagine a conference that brings together representatives of government, industry, utilities, vendor organizations and academia who are are striving for the value revolution of intelligent electricity. That’s what the Transactive Energy Systems Conference is all about.

  • 3rd Annual Grid Modernization Forum

The 3rd Annual Grid Modernization Forum will closely examine lessons learned to date by industry leaders pushing the frontiers of grid modernization and reliability. As in previous editions, key technology innovators and executives will come together to share perspectives on how best to leverage smart grid investment, effectively engage customers, and meet the challenges of the changing energy ecosystem.
