About

Grid Modernization Initiative and Clean Energy Cybersecurity

The U.S. Department of Energy Grid Modernization Initiative and Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response are excited to host the Energy Transition Summit: Grid Modernization Initiative and Clean Energy Cybersecurity in Arlington, Virginia, Feb. 5-8, 2024.

Attendees will learn about opportunities to engage with DOE-led efforts that are modernizing the future power grid and enabling a more resilient, secure, and equitable energy transition. This event will host thought leaders and working sessions to have a dialog about strategies for future energy systems through partnerships and technology transition across government, industry, research organizations, and local communities.

The summit will feature keynote speakers and focused sessions on the two summit themes: the DOE Grid Modernization Initiative and Clean Energy Cybersecurity.

Summit Themes

Grid Modernization Initiative (Feb. 6-8, 2024)

Creating the grid of the future to deliver resilient, reliable, flexible, secure, sustainable, and affordable electricity.

Participate in a series of meetings that will reflect on and inform the GMI. The GMI coordinates research, design, and development efforts across nine DOE offices and 14 national labs to accelerate and enhance the rate of innovation in this critical space. Meeting sessions are designed to review the Department’s latest strategy for grid modernization, understand current GMI activities, promote industry initiatives, and provide an opportunity for stakeholder input on the direction of GMI activities. Sessions will deep dive into the six GMI pillars – markets, planning, operations, devices, flexibility, and resilience – and examine synergies for their advancement through diverse and robust partnerships.

Clean Energy Cybersecurity (Feb. 5-8, 2024)

Fostering collaborative security solutions to enable a more resilient and equitable energy transition.

Join critical discussions around preparing our nation for a cyber resilient transition to a clean energy future. Sessions will feature speakers and participants from Congress, the White House Office of the National Cyber Director, DOE, energy sector stakeholders, cyber solutions providers, investors, national laboratories, academia, and other federal, state, and local government agencies. Facilitated discussion and industry panels will cover cyber risk, policy and regulatory considerations, technology innovation and solutions, and cyber workforce, training, and exercises.

Attendees are invited to join the Clean Energy Cybersecurity hosts on Monday, February 5 for pre-event trainings, meetings, and exercises, including SLTT sessions.
